COOKIE POLICY
What are cookies?
Cookies (and similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage) are small files a website saves on your device to remember information between visits or while you browse.
What we do directly
LowKeyMiles does not use first-party cookies to track you or build a browsing profile. The only technical cookie on this domain is the session cookie for the blog's private admin panel, which doesn't affect visitors to the blog and performs no tracking of any kind.
Third-party cookies you can accept or reject
While browsing LowKeyMiles you may be offered third-party content or services that, if you accept them, will set their own cookies. Here's what we currently use:
- Google Analytics (analytics): helps us understand, in aggregate, which pages get visited most. More info in Google's cookie policy.
- Google AdSense (advertising): shows the ads that fund the blog. More info in Google's ads policy.
- GetYourGuide (widget for bookable activities and tours, using our affiliate code). More info in their privacy policy.
- GuruWalk (widget for free walking tours, using our affiliate code). More info in their privacy policy.
- IATI Travel Insurance (affiliate link for travel insurance). More info in their privacy policy.
None of these services load until you give explicit consent: they are, therefore, non-essential cookies subject to your prior authorisation.
How we manage your consent
On your first visit you'll see a banner at the bottom of the screen with three equally accessible options: reject, customise, or accept all. Until you choose one, none of the third-party services listed above load in your browser.
Your choice is stored only in your own browser's local storage (not on a server or in a tracking cookie), and you can change it at any time via the 🍪 icon permanently shown in the bottom-left corner of the site.
Disabling or deleting cookies from your browser
Besides our preferences panel, you can block or delete cookies from your own browser settings (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, etc.). Rejecting third-party cookies doesn't stop you from using the blog, though some activity or booking widgets will no longer display.
